Description

The Bromic Cobalt Smart-Heat Electric is a 304 stainless steel infrared heater with a quartz element and a parabolic anodized reflector, built for permanent wall or ceiling installation over patios, pergolas and hospitality terraces. It comes in 4000W and 6000W versions for either 230 to 240 V or 208 V service, which matters in New York City apartment and commercial buildings where 208 V is common.

Installation Notes

Cobalt heaters are hardwired. Choose the 208 V model if your building supplies 208 V (common in NYC multifamily and commercial buildings) and the 230 to 240 V model for typical single-family 240 V service; the 6000W draws 25 to 28.4 A, so size the circuit accordingly. Mount at least 6 ft above the floor on a wall or 8 ft on a ceiling.

In New York City, a new heater circuit on a terrace or roof requires a licensed electrician and an electrical permit, and building or board approval is often needed.
