The Dimplex Opti-myst Pro 500 (CDFI500-PRO) is a 20 inch built-in water vapor cassette that creates the look of flames and smoke from an ultrasonic mist lit by LEDs, with no venting, gas line or hot glass. It is made for custom work: single-sided, corner, three-sided and see-through installs, and multiple 20 and 40 inch cassettes can be combined in series for long linear features. It produces visual flame only and has no heater. It is a strong choice for New York City apartments, restaurants and hotels where gas and venting are not possible.

  • Required: a framed enclosure to the dimensions above with a 40 sq in fresh air inlet, and a 15 A 120V circuit for hardwiring (GFCI protection in a bathroom)
  • Options above: CDFILOG hand-painted log set and CDFIPLUMB-KIT plumbing kit
  • Optional: CDFI-PLUGKIT plug kit and decorative media kits (sold separately)

Installation Notes

Frame the opening to Dimplex's dimensions, rest the cassette on front and back sills or a level surface, keep the air path to the fresh air inlet open, and secure it to the framing at each end. Avoid drafts from vents and ceiling fans, which disturb the flame. A plumbed water line should be fitted by a plumber, and in New York City hardwired electrical work should be done by a licensed electrician. Frequently Asked Questions

Does it give off heat?

No. The CDFI500-PRO is a visual fire feature only; Dimplex sells the CDFI-TMHEAT heater separately.

How often do I refill the water?

Dimplex lists up to 8 hours of flames from a full tank, or fit the CDFIPLUMB-KIT for a continuous water supply.

Can I plug it in?

It ships ready to hardwire on a 15 A 120V circuit; the CDFI-PLUGKIT adds cord-and-plug connection.

Can I make a longer fireplace?

Yes. Dimplex designs the 20 and 40 inch cassettes to be combined in series for longer linear installations.
