The Firegear Kalea Bay is an outdoor linear gas fireplace built to be framed into a patio wall, outdoor kitchen or freestanding masonry feature, with a 304 stainless firebox and burner and a 16 in. tall opening in widths from 36 to 72 inches. It is for homeowners and landscape designers who want a modern ribbon of flame outdoors without running a chimney or flue. LED lighting under the flame, electronic ignition with flame-loss shutoff and an optional see-through kit make it a flexible centerpiece.

What Is Included and What You Will Need
- Included: fireplace, windshield and hood, LED and RGB control components, 12 VDC LED and 7.5 VDC valve adapters, 10 ft. module and LED harnesses, 1/2 in. connector valve, 6 x 12 in. stainless vent kit (2 vents), user's manual.
- Choose Natural Gas or Liquid Propane and size above. Firegear ships every Kalea Bay as natural gas and converts it to propane with the size-matched LP kit (OFP-36LECO-LPK through OFP-72LECO-LPK); call us to confirm the kit is included with a propane order.
- Required, sold separately: fire glass media to cover the burner trough, 1/2 to 3/4 in. Firegear glass recommended (about 15 lbs for 36 in., 20 lbs for 48 in., 25 lbs for 60 and 72 in.). See the media quantity guide.
- Optional: see-through conversion kit (78002, 78004, 78006 or 78008 for LED models), weather cover, Skytech remotes and wall timers, wire harness extensions.
- You will need: a gas supply run in 3/4 in. black iron pipe or approved flexible line with a shutoff at the fireplace, a 120VAC outdoor outlet for the adapters, and a non-combustible enclosure framed in metal studs and cement board.
Installation Notes
The Kalea Bay is for outdoor use only and must never be installed in a building, garage or other enclosed area. The space must qualify as outdoors under ANSI Z21.97 (see the FAQ below). It sits on a flat, level, stable surface, the enclosure needs at least 18 sq. in. of cross ventilation per side, and the gas connection must be made and leak tested by a licensed gas fitter. Natural gas inlet pressure runs 5.0 to 10.5 in. WC (7.0 nominal); propane 10.5 to 13.0 in. WC (11.0 nominal). Never store a propane tank inside the enclosure. In New York City and on Long Island, the gas line must be run by a licensed plumber under local permit rules, so plan it before the patio or kitchen is built. Warranty
Firegear limited warranty (2020) for consumer residential applications on the Kalea Bay: lifetime on construction and manufacturer defects and on stainless steel components; 5 years on the gas valve, pilot assembly, power supply and controls; 5 years on Skytech optional controls. Claims are made through the dealer; travel, diagnostic and labor costs are not covered.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Kalea Bay need a chimney or vent?
No flue is required. It is an unvented outdoor appliance, but the enclosure it is framed into needs cross ventilation, at least 18 sq. in. per side, using the two supplied 6 x 12 in. vents.
Can I put it under a covered patio?
Yes, as long as the space still qualifies as outdoors under ANSI Z21.97: a roof with no more than two walls, or three walls with at least 30 percent of the perimeter permanently open. Keep 46-1/2 in. to a combustible ceiling.
Can it be made two-sided?
Yes. Firegear offers a see-through conversion kit for each size, which adds a second windshield, brackets and a stainless hood. Side wall clearance increases to 36 in. in see-through configuration.
