The Osburn Inspire 2000-I is an EPA certified wood-burning insert for an existing masonry fireplace. It pairs a 2.4 cubic foot firebox and a wide ceramic glass door with an included 176 CFM blower, and it is meant for a home that wants real wood heat from a fireplace opening of at least 29 inches wide.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

  • Included per the installation manual: blower with power cord, cold hand door handle, C-Cast baffle and secondary air tubes, ceramic glass door, refractory bricks and retainers, and the faceplate you select on this listing.
  • Required: a continuous 6 inch stainless liner to the top of the chimney, with at least 12 inches of rigid liner above the masonry recommended. The listing offers 25 ft and 35 ft kits as an option, or your installer can supply one.
  • Optional: moulded refractory panels, fresh air intake kit, log retainers, liner offset adapter and liner fastening system.
  • Not approved for mobile home installation.

Installation Notes

The manual requires a qualified installer, a code-compliant liner and non-combustible floor protection in front of the insert. Wood burning in New York City is regulated: Local Law 38 of 2015 limits new solid fuel fireplaces and the Air Pollution Control Code governs what can be burned, so confirm the rules for your address before you order. Book a consultation and we will measure the opening and review local requirements with you.

What size fireplace does the Inspire 2000-I fit?

The manual lists a minimum masonry opening of 29 inches wide, 24-5/8 inches high and 20-3/4 inches deep, with a maximum masonry thickness of 5 inches. Add at least 4 inches to the width if you use a fresh air intake.

Does it include a blower?

Yes. A double-cage blower rated up to 176 CFM is included, with a 6 ft power cord and automatic or manual control.

Does it need a liner?

Yes. The manual calls for a continuous 6 inch stainless steel liner from the insert to the top of the chimney, listed to UL 1777 or the Canadian equivalents.

Can I install it in a mobile home?

No. The Inspire 2000-I is not approved for mobile home installation.

Osburn's Limited Lifetime Warranty covers combustion chamber welds and the cast iron door frame for life (5 years labor), ceramic glass and plating for life (parts only), surrounds, heat shields, baffle and secondary air tubes for 7 years (parts only), the blower, sensors and electronics for 2 years parts and 1 year labor, and paint, gaskets, insulation and refractory bricks for 1 year.
