The Outdoor GreatRoom Crystal Fire Plus square burner insert and plate kit is the stainless steel burner and matching square plate for a custom fire pit, built into your own masonry, stone or block enclosure. The plate drops in flush, and fire media hides the burner for a clean flame bed.
Choose 24 in., 30 in., 36 in. or 42 in. and manual or direct spark ignition above. OGR rates the 24 in. and 30 in. kits at 55,000 BTU/h and the 36 in. and 42 in. kits at 105,000 BTU/h on propane and 106,000 BTU/h on natural gas.

What Is Included and What You Will Need
- Included: Crystal Fire Plus square burner insert and matching burner plate in the size you select, with the ignition option selected above
- Needed: fire media to cover the burner, such as OGR tempered fire glass gems (amount by size above)
- Optional: square tempered glass wind guard and square tempered glass burner cover
- Needed: an enclosure built to OGR's clearances, a gas supply, and a GFCI outlet for direct spark ignition
Installation Notes
OGR requires at least 72 in. from the top of the burner to any overhead combustible material and 24 in. from the edge of the burner trim to combustible side walls, plus the enclosure clearances in the manual. If the enclosure houses a propane cylinder, it needs two equal vent openings near the top and two near the bottom, on opposite sides, totaling 1 sq. in. per pound of stored propane. Direct spark ignition needs a readily accessible GFCI-protected outlet. Gas connections should be made by a licensed installer. For New York City addresses, outdoor gas fire features and their gas piping fall under the NYC Fuel Gas Code and Department of Buildings permitting, and propane at residences is restricted by the NYC Fire Code, so the approval path for a built-in fire pit must be confirmed before you buy. Frequently Asked Questions
Manual or direct spark ignition?
Manual kits use a manual safety valve lit with a spark igniter. Direct spark ignition lights electronically and needs a GFCI-protected outlet.
How much heat does it make?
OGR rates the 24 in. and 30 in. kits at 55,000 BTU/h and the larger kits at 105,000 BTU/h on propane and 106,000 on natural gas. A booster orifice is available for the 55,000 BTU/h burners where approved for the structure.
Do I need fire media?
Yes. The burner is meant to be covered with fire glass or other media; OGR lists from 30 lbs to 90 lbs depending on size.
Can I use it under a pergola?
Only with 72 in. from the top of the burner to any combustible material overhead, per OGR.

The Outdoor GreatRoom Company limited warranty, per the Crystal Fire Plus burner manual: stainless steel burners installed in a residential setting carry a limited lifetime warranty, defined as 10 years from purchase, and 5 years in commercial settings; ignition and electronics are covered for 1 year, and other parts for 1 year from purchase. Coverage is for the original owner and original installation, non-transferable, and is void if the burner is installed against the instructions, with unapproved components or outside local codes.
