The Dimplex IgniteXL 50 (XLF50) is a 50-inch built-in linear electric fireplace with edge-to-edge glass and a panoramic flame in a unit under 6 inches deep. It suits condos, high-rises and media walls where there is no gas line or chimney, and Dimplex now certifies the IgniteXL line for covered outdoor use. The Comfort$aver heater runs with the flames or can be turned off for flame-only ambiance all year.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

- Required: a dedicated, properly fused 15 A circuit; a framed opening per the table
- Optional, selectable above: XLFTRIM50 trim kit for 2x4 walls, LF50DWS-KIT driftwood and river rock kit (loose river rock with 1 large and 1 small driftwood piece), and thin split logs
Installation Notes
Frame the opening at 50-5/8 in wide by 16 in high, with a sill that can support the front of the unit and a pass-through for the wiring; keep the fireplace from direct contact with vapor barrier or insulation. The store-hosted manual is an earlier indoor revision that says not to use the unit outdoors; for covered outdoor installs follow the current Dimplex guide, which requires a sheltering overhang and recommends a ground-fault protected circuit. This is an electric unit with no gas line, vent or chimney, which makes it a practical choice for New York City apartments, condos and townhouses where gas or vented fireplaces are not an option. Yes, on a covered patio or terrace under the current Dimplex outdoor certification, with a 1-year outdoor warranty.
Can it go in a 2x4 wall?
Yes, with the optional XLFTRIM50 trim kit. In a 2x6 wall it recesses fully.
Does it heat a room?
It has a 1,500 W heater at 120V or 2,500 W at 240V. You can also run the flames with no heat.
Does it need a vent or gas line?
No. It is electric and needs only a dedicated 15 A circuit.
