The Fire Garden 4024 Single-Sided is a 40 inch linear outdoor gas fireplace built to be framed into a stone, stucco or tile wall as the focal point of a patio, pool house or outdoor living room. A 36 inch burner puts out 65,000 BTU behind a tempered glass wind guard, black glass firebacks line the back and sides, and the firebox is 16 gauge stainless steel. Fire Garden is made by Travis Industries.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

  • Included: 34 inch 1 inch flex line (accepts 3/4 inch MPT), glass wind guard with brackets, black glass firebacks (3 rear and 2 side), LP conversion kit, wall switch and cover, gas key valve with chrome flange and 3 inch and 18 inch keys, (2) enclosure ventilation grilles and (2) enclosure vents.
  • Required: a 24V transformer, sold separately and selectable above. Fire Garden's current manual (rev 12/17/24) lists two options: the Single Appliance Transformer (94800833) when this fireplace is the only appliance on the transformer, or the Multiple Appliance Transformer (94800830) to run up to six Fire Garden 24V appliances.
  • Required: burner media. Fire Garden calls for 25 lbs of crushed glass (3 boxes) or 50 lbs small plus 20 lbs large tumbled stone; options are selectable above.
  • You will need: switched 110V GFCI protected circuit to the transformer, low voltage and line voltage wiring, gas piping, a weatherproof box if the switch is mounted outdoors, and a non-combustible chase.

Installation Notes

For outdoor installation with a fixed gas line only, by a qualified installer. The face needs non-combustible facing and a 36 inch combustible-free zone in front, and the chase must be ventilated with outdoor air from the front, rear or sides. Allow at least 90 inches from the base of the unit to any ceiling. In New York City, gas piping must be installed by a licensed plumber and outdoor fire features on terraces and rooftops may need DOB and FDNY review. We design and install outdoor fireplaces in NYC and Long Island; schedule a design consultation to plan the chase and gas run.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the 4024 Single-Sided need a chimney or vent?

No. It is an outdoor decorative gas appliance with no flue, but the enclosure around it must have two screened vents with at least 24 square inches of free area each, on the front and rear or on the sides, within 6 inches of the bottom.

Can I run it on propane?

Yes. It ships for natural gas and includes an LP conversion kit; the input stays 65,000 BTU on either fuel. Fire Garden lists it for fixed gas line installations only.

Can it go under a covered patio or pergola?

Yes, if the space meets the manual's outdoor area definition with at least 90 inches from the fireplace base to the ceiling.

Which transformer do I need?

Either Fire Garden 24V transformer works: the Single Appliance Transformer (94800833) if this fireplace runs on its own, or the Multiple Appliance Transformer (94800830) if one transformer will power up to six Fire Garden 24V appliances.
