The Kingsman IDV34 (also sold as the Marquis Capri 34) is a direct vent gas insert that turns an existing wood-burning fireplace into a sealed, efficient gas fire. It is built for the classic NYC and Long Island situation: a masonry or factory-built wood fireplace that is drafty, messy or no longer used. Two 3 in. flex liners run up the existing chimney, a heat-activated blower comes standard, and a wide choice of Clean View fronts, liners and media lets it match a traditional or modern room.

Installation Notes
The IDV34 installs in a code-compliant masonry solid fuel fireplace or a listed zero clearance factory-built wood fireplace; the damper plate, grates, doors and screen rails may need to be removed, but refractory must not be removed from a masonry fireplace. Two 3 in. flex liners run up the existing flue to a co-linear rain cap, and the chimney must not also serve a wood-burning appliance. Measure the opening carefully: it needs at least 28-5/8 in. at the front, 21-1/4 in. at the back, 21-1/2 in. high and 17-3/4 in. deep. Installation must be done by a qualified, licensed gas installer. In New York City, converting a wood fireplace to gas is done under the NYC Fuel Gas Code by a licensed plumber, with chimney work and DOB filing where required. We measure and confirm fit during a fireplace consultation.

Will the IDV34 fit my fireplace?
Your opening needs at least 28-5/8 in. wide at the front, 21-1/4 in. at the back, 21-1/2 in. high and 17-3/4 in. deep (26-7/8 in. front width and 15-3/4 in. depth with the Clean View 6 front). For larger openings, Kingsman makes the IDV44.
Is a blower included?
Yes. A heat-activated blower with variable speed control is standard. On Proflame II models the blower and lights do not run on battery backup, but the fire does.
Can I use it in an NYC brownstone or co-op?
Often, yes. A direct vent insert is a common way to convert an existing wood fireplace in the city, provided the chimney can take the liners and a licensed plumber files the gas work. Building approval may also be required.
Do I need to buy logs separately?
Yes. Media is required, so choose a log set or glass and rock media through the IDV34 media options listing.

Warranty
Kingsman Limited Lifetime Warranty: during the first year after installation, defective component parts are replaced including labour, through an authorized Kingsman dealer (accent light bulbs, gasketing, glass fronts and paint excluded). The heat exchanger, combustion chamber and burner are warranted for as long as the original owner owns the insert; labour, material, freight and handling are not covered under the lifetime portion.
