The Majestic Ashland 36 (ASH36-B) is a tall, masonry-style wood-burning fireplace with a 36 in. wide by 38 in. high opening, built for homeowners who want a real wood fire with the presence of a site-built hearth. Its flush-hearth design lets stone or tile run cleanly to the opening, and two outside air kits come standard.

You choose the look with a traditional or herringbone firebrick interior in four colors, then finish it with Majestic bi-fold glass doors. It is a factory-built, UL 127 listed system that uses Majestic SL1100 Series chimney, which keeps framing and venting predictable for builders.

Installation Notes

The ASH36-B frames into a 47-7/8 in. W x 74-1/2 in. H x 28-1/2 in. D opening and runs SL1100 chimney with a 2 in. air space to insulation and combustibles. The termination cap must sit at least 3 ft above the roof and 2 ft above anything within 10 ft, and chases need firestops at each floor or every 10 ft. Build the hearth extension from non-combustible material per the installation manual; the architect guide calls for an R-value of at least 2.32. Installation should be done by a qualified installer, and Majestic recommends a full chimney reline if a wood insert is ever added. New York City does not permit new wood-burning fireplaces under Local Law 38 of 2015, so we sell Majestic wood-burning fireplaces for installations outside the five boroughs where local code allows them. Is the firebrick interior included?

No. Majestic lists the refractory as required and sold separately. You choose traditional or herringbone brick in Natural Gray, Antler Velvet, Black Onyx or Masonry Brown.

What chimney does the Ashland 36 use?

Majestic SL1100 Series chimney, with a 2 in. clearance to combustibles and building insulation.

Can I add gas logs later?

Yes. The fireplace has gas line knockouts on both sides. A gas log set needs its own shutoff and requires the damper to be locked fully open.

Can this be installed in New York City?

No. New wood-burning fireplaces are not permitted in the five boroughs under Local Law 38 of 2015. We sell the Ashland for homes on Long Island, in Westchester, New Jersey and other areas where local code allows it.

Warranty

Majestic wood fireplaces are covered by the Hearth & Home Technologies limited warranty, which begins at installation and transfers to later owners while the fireplace stays at its original site. The current HHT warranty table lists the firebox and heat exchanger of wood appliances at 20 years parts with 3 years labor, and all other parts at 1 year. Coverage requires purchase through an authorized HHT dealer and installation per the manual; overfiring voids the warranty.
