Installation Notes
The Villawood needs a listed chimney system, a hearth extension insulated to at least R 1.03 with protective metal hearth strips, and moisture protection where it sits in a structure wall or on a moisture-sensitive surface. Frame it at 48 in. wide, 39-3/4 in. high and 21-1/2 in. deep and keep the 2 in. chimney clearance to combustibles. Burn only solid wood, use only HHT glass door kits, and do not overfire, which voids the warranty. New York City does not permit new wood-burning fireplaces under Local Law 38 of 2015, so we sell Majestic wood-burning fireplaces for installations outside the five boroughs where local code allows them. Book a free design consultation and we will help you plan the layout, utilities and installation.
Documentation
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I burn gas logs in it?
The rating label warns it has not been tested with an unvented decorative gas appliance, so never use vent-free logs. The manual has a separate section on vented gas log sets and lighters; ask us before planning one.
Are doors included?
No. The ODVGF-42 stainless steel bi-fold door is available from the options above.
Does it need a chimney?
Yes. A chimney system and a hearth extension are required and sold separately.
Can it go in New York City?
No. NYC does not permit new wood-burning fireplaces under Local Law 38 of 2015, so we supply the Villawood for projects outside the five boroughs.
