The Summerset Resort 30 in. built-in gas grill (SBG30) is Summerset's compact, heavy-duty grill for busy patios, rental properties and hospitality settings, and it works just as well in a home island. Summerset builds it with two 304 stainless steel U-tube burners rated at 52,000 BTU in total, 9 mm cooking grates and anti-theft knobs.
Piezo valve ignition, which Summerset calls flame thrower ignition, lights the burners with a manual flash tube as a backup, and a double-insulated hood holds heat. It is one of the few Summerset grills whose warranty also covers commercial and hospitality use.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

- Needed: a non-combustible island, or a Summerset insulated grill liner if the surround is combustible
- Needed: a gas line with an accessible shutoff run by a licensed installer, or a propane supply with an LP regulator
Installation Notes
All islands for this grill must be built from non-combustible materials; a combustible surround needs a Summerset insulating jacket or liner. Summerset calls for at least 14 in. at the sides and rear from a protected combustible wall, 18 in. from a combustible wall, 4 in. from a non-combustible backsplash, and 5 ft of clearance from the countertop to any overhead construction, with an exhaust hood required under combustible overhead construction. Keep it level and shield it from wind blowing into the back of the hood. In New York City, gas grills on terraces and rooftops are regulated by the FDNY and the Department of Buildings, gas piping must be run by a licensed master plumber, and propane cylinder use is heavily restricted, so we review the space before quoting. Is the Resort grill only for commercial use?
No. Summerset designed it for hotels, restaurants and rentals, but it installs in a home island like any built-in grill.
What cutout does it need?
Summerset's manual lists 28.5 in. W x 23.25 in. D x 10.25 in. H, and recommends adding 1/4 in.
Can I switch between natural gas and propane?
Yes. Opposite-fuel orifices come with the grill; have a qualified gas technician do the conversion.
Does it need electricity?
No. It lights with piezo valve ignition, which needs no batteries or power, and has a manual flash tube as a backup.

Warranty
AMD Direct (Summerset) Gold Standard Lifetime Warranty, per the owner's manual: lifetime coverage on construction and manufacturer defects, stainless steel construction, cooking grates, burners, burner covers, valves, flame tamers, heat zone separators, temperature gauges and hood springs, and 3 years on all other parts, components and electrical, including LED bulbs, wire harness, switches and the transformer. Registration is required online within 30 days of purchase; coverage is for the original purchaser at the original site, replacement parts only with no labor, and excludes discoloration, surface rust and corrosion.
Unlike most Summerset grills, the Resort grill keeps its warranty in commercial and hospitality applications, provided regular maintenance is documented.
