The Napoleon Altitude X 42 (AX42NTE-2) is a clean-face traditional direct vent gas fireplace with a full-width firebox and up to 38,000 BTU/h of input. It is built for a new construction or renovation wall where you want to choose your own decorative panels, log set and front, with an included NIGHT LIGHT, heat-circulating blower, safety barrier and eFIRE remote control.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

Installation Notes
Horizontal vent sections need 3 inches of clearance to combustibles on top and 2 inches at the sides and bottom, and vertical sections need 1 inch all around. Keep objects at least 4 feet in front of the unit. The appliance sits on a raised platform that accounts for finished floor thickness. Napoleon's manual leaves mantel and TV clearances unfilled, so confirm them before you build. A licensed installer must handle gas and venting. In New York City, a direct vent gas fireplace must meet the NYC Fuel Gas Code and be permitted. Book a consultation and we will confirm framing and venting before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Altitude X 42 come with a decorative panel and logs?
No. A decorative panel and a log set are required to complete the unit and are chosen in the options above.
Does it have a battery backup?
Napoleon's manual does not describe a battery backup for power outages. The batteries power the remote system, and the unit is hard wired.
Can I put a TV above it?
Napoleon lists the unit as designed for TVs when paired with its heat management options. Confirm the exact clearances with us before framing.
