The Napoleon Element 42 (NEFB42H-BS) is a self-trimming built-in electric fireplace for a framed recess or an existing fireplace opening, with a log set, decorative brick side panels and top lighting in seven colors. It is a good fit when you want a traditional-looking firebox without gas or venting.
It is dual voltage: on 120V it plugs in or hardwires and delivers about 5,000 BTU (1,500 W); hardwired on 240V it doubles to about 10,000 BTU (3,000 W), which Napoleon describes as the highest heat output in its category.

Installation Notes
Route power to the right side of the recess before setting the unit, lift it in with two people and secure it with the four supplied screws, per the Napoleon manual. It ships set for a 120V plug-in; 240V operation requires hardwiring by an electrician. Keep the unit at least 36 in. from combustible furnishings. Electric fireplaces need no venting or gas line, which makes them a practical choice for New York City apartments and condos. Book a design consultation to plan the recess, power and finish.

Napoleon Electric Appliance Premium Warranty, per the Napoleon owner's manual: electrical components and wearable parts (fan/heaters, motors, switches, nylon bearing components, remote controls and LED lights) are covered with free replacement parts for the first 2 years, and labor for warranty repair is covered in the first year only; light bulbs and fuses are not covered. Coverage begins on the date of original installation, is for the original purchaser only and requires purchase through an authorized Napoleon dealer.
