The Napoleon Rosedale 3 (RD3N) is a direct vent gas insert that converts an existing wood-burning fireplace into a remote-controlled gas fire, venting through two 3 in. liners run up the old chimney. Millivolt ignition keeps it running in a power outage, and you finish it with a log kit, faceplate and backerplate chosen above. It fits openings at least 29 in. wide, 21 in. high and 15 in. deep, which covers many row house and older home fireplaces.

Installation Notes
The wood fireplace must be cleaned and inspected, built of non-combustible materials and sound, with at least a 6 in. round flue. A licensed gas technician runs two continuous 3 in. liners to the chimney cap and sets the insert per installation manual W415-10001663. In New York City, gas work requires a licensed master plumber and permits, and gas inserts are a common NYC fireplace conversion. Does it work in a power outage?
Yes. The RD3 uses millivolt ignition, so the burner runs without household power.
Which vent kit do I need?
A Napoleon GDI-3xxKT kit with two 3 in. liners, sized 20 to 45 ft to match your chimney height.
How much heat does it make?
The installation manual rates natural gas at up to 24,000 BTU/h; Napoleon's brochure lists up to 25,000 BTU and 30,000 combined with the optional hybrid blower.

Warranty
Napoleon President's Limited Lifetime Warranty (owner's manual W415-10001664): the combustion chamber, heat exchanger, burner, logs and embers, ceramic glass (thermal breakage) and enameled and plated parts are covered for as long as you own the appliance; Napoleon repairs or replaces covered parts free for the first 10 years and supplies them at 50% of retail after that. Electrical and millivolt components and wearable parts are covered 1 year, as is warranty labor. Installation by a licensed, qualified installer is required.
