The NetZero Waterplace NZW40B is a 40 inch water vapor fireplace burner that produces a rolling, three-dimensional flame from tap water, LED light and a quiet ultrasonic mist maker. It gives off zero heat and needs no gas, no venting and no clearance to combustibles, so it works in media walls, lobbies, restaurant dividers and apartments where a real fire cannot go. Buyers choose the standard Waterplace for its natural orange flame, a 4 liter tank that runs about 20 hours per fill, and the ability to link burners for up to 20 feet of continuous flame.

Installation Notes

120V indoor appliance, no venting, no gas. Build a sealed enclosure to the cavity dimensions above with a 120V outlet inside for the 24V transformer, and keep the burner out of drafts, which flatten the flame. The standard Waterplace is filled by hose from the front port; add the AA-11-05163 Direct Plumb Kit if you want it on a water line, and raise the cavity height to 12 inches to make room for it. LED light shines upward out of the enclosure unless you build a light trap (NetZero publishes guidelines). Use soft or slightly hard tap water, drain the tanks if unused for more than a week, and clean the float sensors once or twice a year. With no combustion, it is suitable for New York City apartments where gas fireplaces are not permitted. Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Waterplace give off any heat?

No. The flame is cool water vapor lit by LEDs. It is a decorative fire feature only, which is why it can go under a TV, inside cabinetry or in a space where a heater would be a problem.

Can I connect it to a water line?

Only with the NetZero Direct Plumb Kit AA-11-05163. Connecting a standard Waterplace to a supply line without the kit will overfill it and cause a leak. Without the kit, you fill the tank by hose and get about 20 hours per fill.

Will it cause moisture damage inside the wall?

Not when installed as directed. The vapor is light and dissipates in the room; NetZero requires the enclosure to be sealed to the room and advises against drafty locations. Normal room ventilation is all that is needed.

Can I install this in a New York City apartment?

Yes. There is no combustion, gas or venting, so the NYC Fuel Gas Code restrictions on vent-free gas appliances do not apply. It needs only a 120V outlet and, if you want, a water line.

Warranty

NetZero Fire covers the burner with a two year limited warranty from the date of purchase for the original purchaser. The mist maker and LED light strips are wear items and are excluded. Monthly cleaning is required to keep the warranty in force, and damage from hard water, improper water connection or freight is not covered.
