The Outdoor GreatRoom Company Single Sided Ready-to-Finish fireplace is a complete outdoor gas fireplace structure that arrives framed, sheathed and fitted with a linear Crystal Fire Plus burner, so your mason only has to clad it. The single-sided version has a solid back, which makes it a natural privacy wall or the anchor of a seating area. It is built for homeowners and landscape designers who want a site-built look without engineering a firebox from scratch: a tall 20 inch opening, a stainless steel lined firebox and UL tested components under any stone, tile or stucco finish you choose.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

Installation Notes

It is an outdoor appliance; under a roof, OGC allows no more than two side walls, or three walls with at least 30 percent of the perimeter permanently open. OGC calls for natural gas at 7" W.C. (6" to 10.5" range) and propane at 11" W.C. (8" to 14"). Gas and electrical enter through the bottom near the access door, and electrical must terminate in a waterproof junction box. If a TV goes above, OGC's best practice is a non-combustible mantel at least 8" deep, the TV face recessed at least 4" and an alcove at least 8" above the mantel; check your TV maker's temperature limits. Gas connections should be made and leak tested by a licensed professional. In New York City the gas line must be run by a licensed master plumber under the NYC Fuel Gas Code, and propane at residences is restricted by the NYC Fire Code, so most of our city installations are natural gas. We design and install these across NYC and Long Island; book a design consultation to plan framing, finish and gas sizing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I finish it with wood or composite siding?

No. Every finish material on the standard ready-to-finish fireplace must be non-combustible. If you build a larger wall around it, combustible framing is allowed at 6" top, 1" side and 1" back clearance, with vents carried through to the outside.

Can it run on a propane tank?

The 40" model holds a standard 20 lb tank behind the access door. OGC's FAQ advises against a 20 lb tank on the longer models because they burn through it too quickly, so plan a hard-piped supply for the 60" and 72".

Do I need a standoff kit?

Only if you over-frame the unit with combustible materials. The size-specific RLFP standoff kit holds the required clearances while you frame; ask us to add it to your order.

Warranty

The Outdoor GreatRoom Company provides a five-year structural warranty on the fireplace enclosure (finish claims go to the finish installer). The stainless steel Crystal Fire Plus burner carries a limited lifetime warranty of 10 years in residential settings and 5 years in commercial settings. Ignition and electronic components are covered for 3 years residential and 1 year commercial, and glass wind guards for 90 days. Register the product with OGC after installation.
