Description

Log set sizes: 18/20, 24 and 30 in.; minimum fireplace opening by size is listed below

The Real Fyre Charred Oak vented gas log set (CHD) puts hand-painted refractory ceramic logs on Real Fyre's G46 burner system, made for an existing wood-burning fireplace with a working chimney. Its charred oak logs give a classic, evenly charred oak fire for traditional masonry and factory-built fireplaces.

The G46 is a regulated ribbon burner certified as a vented decorative appliance to ANSI Z21.60 and CSA 2.26, with the pilot, igniter and regulator tucked inside the burner's angled sides. Choose the size, gas type and ignition above, or the logs alone if you already own a compatible Real Fyre burner.

Features

  • Logs cast from real wood samples and hand painted for natural bark detail and color
  • Steel rods cast inside each log for strength at high temperature
  • G46 ribbon burner with built-in regulator, certified to ANSI Z21.60 and CSA 2.26
  • Pilot, igniter and regulator housed inside the burner frame, not hanging off one side
  • 40,000 to 65,000 BTU/h depending on size, natural gas or propane
  • Remote-ready ignition choices, per the options above
  • Damper clamp included to hold the required permanent chimney opening
  • Made in the USA by R.H. Peterson Co.

Installation Notes

The G46 may only be installed in a solid-fuel burning fireplace with a working flue that meets the minimum firebox sizes above. The damper clamp must stay installed to keep the minimum permanent chimney opening (for a 15 ft chimney, 18 to 30 sq in. on factory-built fireplaces and 27 to 41 sq in. on masonry, by burner size), and the damper must be fully open when burning. Do not install where an ash lip is deeper than 3/4 in. A propane supply must be regulated, located outside and hard piped into the fireplace. In New York City, gas log installations must be performed by a licensed master plumber with the required permits, and the fireplace and chimney must be approved for use; we confirm this before you buy. Send us your firebox measurements or book a consultation and we will size the set.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the size?

Measure the front width, rear width, depth and height of your firebox. The 18/20 in. set needs at least 26 in. front, 20 in. rear, 15 in. deep and 17 in. high; electronic 02 models need 6 in. more front width and 4 in. more rear width.

Can I use this in a fireplace that does not burn wood?

No. The G46 is a vented decorative appliance and must go in a working solid-fuel burning fireplace with an open chimney.

How much gas does it use?

The 18/20 in. burner is rated at 40,000 BTU/h, the 24 in. at 55,000 BTU/h and the 30 in. at 65,000 BTU/h on natural gas or propane, at elevations up to 2,000 ft.

Will the logs change color?

Yes. Like all gas logs, they darken with carbon after the first burns, which is normal; lighter finishes show it more.
