The Napoleon F60 is a thermostatic on/off remote: the handheld transmitter reads room temperature and cycles the fireplace to hold the set point, and the battery receiver wires to the gas valve. The Napoleon Ascent X (BX36 / BX42) owner's manual shows the F60 receiver and remote, and the F60 instructions approve it for most gas fireplaces, stoves and inserts with millivolt or electronic ignition.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

  • Included: transmitter, wall mount cradle, receiver, wall faceplate, fireplace mounting plate, slide switch, 2 AAA and 4 AA batteries (manual)
  • Required: a compatible Napoleon gas fireplace, stove or insert

Installation Notes

Per the instructions, turn off power and gas, set the receiver switch to OFF, and wire the receiver output to terminals TPTH and TH of a millivolt valve, or to the switch leads of an electronic ignition module. In New York City, gas fireplaces and stoves are installed under the NYC Fuel Gas Code by a licensed master plumber, with DOB filing where required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it fit my fireplace?

Napoleon approves the F60 for most gas fireplaces, stoves and inserts with millivolt or electronic ignition; send us your model and we will confirm.

What if the batteries die in thermostat mode?

Per the manual, if the transmitter batteries fail in thermostatic mode, the appliance shuts down after 12 hours as a safety feature until the batteries are replaced.
