Simplifire 36 Inch Inception Traditional Electric Fireplace

Overall Dimensions: 41-1/4 in. W x 8-7/8 in. D x 35-3/4 in. H

The SimpliFire Inception 36 is a traditional-style electric fireplace from Hearth & Home Technologies, the company behind Heat & Glo, built to look like a full masonry firebox rather than a screen on the wall. It suits buyers who want the proportions of a real fireplace with hand-painted logs and LED embers, but have no gas line or chimney. DigitalSpark flame technology, zero-clearance framing and the option to double the heat on 240V are what set it apart from typical plug-in units.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

• Included: Inception appliance, remote control with 2 AAA batteries, 4 logs, black embers, 2 side panels, 2 refractory pieces, fuel bed filter, instruction manual.
• Decorative front (required): choose Folio (SF-FOL-36), Halston (SF-HAL-36) or Chateau Forge (SF-CHAF-36) above. SimpliFire requires a front to be installed before operation, and it must be ordered with the fireplace.
• Optional Wescott Mantel Kit (MK-WS-INC36): choose "With Mantel Kit" above to install the Inception freestanding against a wall with no framing.
• You will need: a hardwired circuit by a licensed electrician, minimum 15 amp at 120V or minimum 20 amp at 240V (a dedicated circuit is recommended), and framing to the rough opening above unless you use the mantel kit.

Installation Notes

The Inception is hardwired, so plan the power location before walls are finished. SimpliFire calls for a minimum 15 amp circuit on 120V or a minimum 20 amp circuit on 240V; a dedicated circuit is not required but is recommended to prevent nuisance trips. Keep combustibles 36 in. from the front. The Folio front is inside-fit only, while Halston and Chateau Forge can be installed overlapping finish material up to 1 in. thick or inside-fit, so pick your front before finishing. In bathrooms the unit must be on a GFI-protected circuit and kept away from water. We install electric fireplaces throughout New York City and Long Island, and a design consultation is the fastest way to settle front, mantel and wiring choices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Inception plug into a wall outlet?

No. SimpliFire specifies hardwire connection only, on either a 120V or 240V circuit.

How much heat does it produce?

5,000 BTU on 120V and 10,000 BTU on 240V. It is rated as supplemental heat, not a primary heat source.

Do I have to build a wall for it?

No. With the Wescott mantel kit it installs against a wall with no construction. Without the kit, frame a 42 in. W x 34-7/8 in. H x 8-3/4 in. D opening.

Which front should I choose?

Folio is a minimal inside-fit front, Halston is a black finish that can overlap the surrounding tile or stone, and Chateau Forge is hand-crafted iron. All three are made for the Inception 36, and one is required.
