The Superior Mosaic Masonry 36 inch Ivory Split Herringbone kit (MOSAIC36IVSH) is the brick panel liner for the Superior WRT6036 indoor and WRE6036 outdoor masonry-style wood-burning fireplaces. Both fireboxes ship as a box only and Superior requires a Mosaic Masonry liner to complete them, so this kit is what turns the steel firebox into a finished brick fireplace.
This kit is Ivory brick in the Split Herringbone pattern, one of the four colors and four patterns Superior offers. It suits builders and homeowners outside New York City who want the look of a site-built masonry fireplace on a factory-built, UL 127 listed system.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

- Required: two or more people to lift the panels, a power drill with a mixing wand, a 3/16 in. masonry bit, a heavy-duty bucket, a piping bag, a trowel and a joint striker
- Needed for grouting: cement, sand and water mixed per the Superior manual
- Optional: Superior 36 inch Mosaic Masonry bi-fold door, Ebony (BDMO36E); Superior also lists Pewter and Oiled Bronze finishes
Installation Notes
The Superior manual sets the panels in this order: bottom panel, side leading bricks, side firebrick walls, then the rear wall, followed by grouting and the grate retainers. Allow 72 hours after grouting before operating the fireplace, and use only IHP approved brick panels and grates. The panels are heavy, so plan for a crew. New York City does not permit new wood-burning fireplaces under Local Law 38 of 2015; we sell Superior wood-burning systems for installations outside the five boroughs where local code allows. Frequently Asked Questions
Is a liner required for the WRT6036 and WRE6036?
Yes. Superior lists both fireboxes as box only with a Mosaic Masonry brick liner required, sold separately.
Does this liner fit Superior vent-free fireboxes?
Superior lists the Mosaic Masonry kits on the WRT6000 and WRE6000 wood-burning spec sheets. The VRT6000 spec sheet lists its own liner versions, so check with us before ordering for any other model.
Do I have to grout the joints?
The Superior manual includes grouting the joints between the firebrick walls, leaving the very top gap open. Allow 72 hours before the first fire.
How heavy is the kit?
The Superior spec sheet lists a shipping weight of 421 pounds, so plan for a delivery crew and help on site.
