The Superior STK-DVLIN48 (catalog F4853) converts a 48 inch direct vent linear fireplace from the Superior DRL4000 and DRL6000 series or the Astria Allume and Allume DLX 48 into a see-through fireplace, so the fire shows in two rooms. It supplies the rear glass door, shields, standoffs, trim and fireboard parts for the second face. The fireplace must be converted before it goes into the framing, so this kit is ordered with the fireplace, not added to a finished wall.

- Included per Superior: 4 nailing flanges, 2 tile stops, sight obstructor, controls access cover, fireboard assembly, 2 header standoffs, barrier and screws; for direct vent models, a header shield, pipe shield and glass door
- Required: a compatible 48 in fireplace from the list above, its installation manual, and a qualified installer, service agency or gas supplier
- Tools (not supplied): drill/driver, Phillips bits, 5/16 nut driver and flathead screwdriver
Installation Notes
Superior requires this kit to be installed by a qualified installer, service agency or gas supplier at the time of the fireplace installation, following both these instructions and the fireplace manual. The rear wrapper, inner heatshield and firebox rear panel come off, the rear door and shields go on, and the unit is then set into framing built to the see-through dimensions. Do not plan on a blower with the indoor see-thru kit. In New York City, the gas connection must be made by a licensed master plumber under a DOB permit. Can I add it to a fireplace that is already installed?
Superior says to convert the fireplace before installing it into the framing, so it is meant to be ordered and installed with the fireplace.
Which fireplaces does it fit?
The 48 in direct vent DRL4048TEN, DRL6048TEN, ALLUME48TEN and ALLUMEDLX48TEN.
Can I use a blower?
No. Superior states blower use is not compatible with the indoor see-thru kit.
What about vent-free models?
Vent-free 48 in models use a different kit, the STK-VFLIN48. Vent-free gas appliances cannot be installed in New York City.
