Description

The Superior FST30 is the firestop thimble (catalog F0912) for the IHP 8 in. wood-burning chimney, used when the chimney offsets through a joist. The WRE3036 manual recommends a firestop thimble (38FST or FST30) when negotiating a joist and to keep insulation out of the chimney space.

Keep the clearances to combustibles in the fireplace manual at every penetration. New York City does not permit new wood-burning fireplaces under Local Law 38 of 2015, so we sell Superior wood-burning fireplaces and their parts for installations outside the five boroughs where local code allows them.

The 38FST is for a straight penetration of a joist; the FST30 is for an offset through a joist.

Is it required?

The manual recommends it when negotiating a joist and to prevent intrusion from insulation.

Warranty

Superior (IHP) fireplace warranties exclude vent components from the 20 year limited warranty, and parts not otherwise listed carry a 90 day warranty from the date of installation, per the IHP warranty printed in the WRT6000 manual. Ask us for the current written terms for your chimney system.
