The Superior VRE4600 36 (model ODLVF36ZEN) is an outdoor vent-free gas fireplace with a 36 inch by 16 inch opening, a stainless steel body, RGB LED lighting and a glass media bed. It is listed for outdoor use only and needs no chimney or vent pipe, which suits a covered patio or outdoor room where a shallow, clean-faced fireplace is wanted.

Installation Notes
This is an outdoor vent-free appliance listed to ANSI Z21.97 for outdoor decorative gas appliances; it must never be installed indoors or in an enclosed space, and the manual limits how enclosed the outdoor space may be. Installation should be done by a qualified gas technician. For New York City addresses, outdoor gas fireplaces and their gas piping fall under the NYC Fuel Gas Code and Department of Buildings permitting, so the approval path for this vent-free unit must be confirmed before you buy. Can the VRE4636 be installed in New York City?
It is certified for outdoor use only, and any NYC installation of an outdoor gas fireplace must clear the NYC Fuel Gas Code and Department of Buildings process. Confirm the approval path with us and a licensed master plumber before ordering.
Can it go under a covered patio?
Only if the space meets the outdoor definition in the manual, such as an overhead cover with no more than two side walls, or three side walls with at least 30% of the perimeter permanently open.
Does it run on propane?
This listing is natural gas. The manual lists a propane rating of 30,000 BTU/h high for the 36 inch model with a different orifice.
What framing does it need?
Metal studs only, built to 40-1/2 inches wide and 16-1/4 inches deep for a single-sided unit. Wood studs are not permitted.

Warranty
Per the installation manual: 20-year limited warranty on the body, firebox and barrier, and 20 years on ceramic glass against thermal breakage only. The burner, gas components and gaskets are covered for 1 year, tempered glass for 1 year, and labor up to five years at prevailing rates. Coverage applies to installations in the US or Canada operated per the manual.
