The Carol Rose 42" Premium is an outdoor vent-free gas fireplace from Empire Comfort Systems with a stainless steel face and hood, a 40" wide opening and a 50,000 BTU burner. It frames into an outdoor wall, covered patio or gazebo with no chimney or flue, and is completed with the required 30" Wildwood 7-piece log set. Choose millivolt or intermittent pilot (IP) ignition with a remote, on natural gas or propane.

What Is Included and What You Will Need
- Included per Empire: fireplace, hood and shut-off valve; IP models add the remote with A23 battery, battery pack and wire assembly, and 4 AA batteries
- Required: Carol Rose 30" Wildwood log set OLX30WR, also offered as a configuration above
- Required: framing of metal studs or 2 x 4 lumber, non-combustible facing, 300 F minimum sealant at the joints, and a gas supply line sized to the manual
- Optional from Empire: BD42SS bi-fold glass doors, WD42SS weather door, DT42SS drain tray, VB4H42SS extended hood, FRBC battery remote or FWS1 wall switch (millivolt only)
Installation Notes
This fireplace is for outdoor use only and must never be installed in a building, garage or other enclosed area. Shelter it from direct wind, slope hearths and chase platforms away from the structure, and add a weather door or bi-fold door to protect it from moisture. Gas piping must be installed by a qualified agency. Vent-free gas appliances cannot be installed in New York City under the NYC Fuel Gas Code. Do I need the log set?
Yes. Empire lists the OLX30WR 7-piece log set as required for OP42FP models. It is sold separately or as a configuration above.
What does the IP remote do?
The included IP remote turns the burner on and off and switches between Hi and Lo. Millivolt models can add the FRBC battery remote or FWS1 wall switch.
What framing opening do I need?
45" W x 36" H x 19-1/4" D, or 37" H if you add the drain tray.
Can it go on a covered porch?
Yes, within Empire's limits: at least 96 sq ft of area, an 84" minimum ceiling and the required open sides. It must never be used in an enclosed space.

Warranty
Per the Empire Comfort Systems manual: limited five-year parts warranty on all components, and limited one-year parts warranty on remote controls, thermostats, accessories and replacement parts. It covers the original purchaser only, requires installation by a qualified installer, and excludes travel, diagnostics, freight and damage from misuse or improper installation.
