Choose the grill for how you cook, not for the biggest number on the spec sheet.
Premium grills can look similar online while cooking very differently. The best choice depends on how many people you cook for, what you cook, the features you actually use and how the grill fits into the complete outdoor kitchen.

Weeknight grilling
Prioritize fast preheat, predictable heat control, easy cleanup and enough cooking area for the household.
Steaks and high-heat cooking
Look closely at the grill's searing system, grate design and how easily you can create different heat zones.
Rotisserie cooking
If you regularly cook poultry, roasts or larger cuts, compare the rotisserie system and rear burner design rather than treating rotisserie as a bonus feature.
Large gatherings
More cooking area can help, but do not sacrifice all of your counter and prep space just to move up one grill size.
The features that matter most
- Cooking area: Think about your normal meal first, then occasional entertaining.
- Heat control: A premium grill should let you manage different foods at different temperatures.
- Searing: Compare how the brand creates high-intensity heat and whether that matches your cooking style.
- Rotisserie: Useful if you will actually use it. Otherwise, prioritize the core grilling system.
- Construction: Materials, fit, finish and internal components matter in an outdoor appliance expected to live outside for years.
- Lighting and controls: Important for evening cooking and day-to-day usability.
- Service access: The island should be designed so the appliance can be serviced later.
Do not choose the grill separately from the island
The grill affects cabinet width, access doors, insulation requirements in some installations, ventilation, gas supply and countertop layout. Choose the grill early enough that the outdoor kitchen can be designed around its actual specifications.
