This is Hargrove's 60-inch Kodiak Double Stack vented gas log set for large wood-burning fireplaces, built on the 60SNDS2B8 burner: a large ember-bed burner with an elevated main burner behind it, controlled by a high-capacity millivolt safety pilot and wall switch. Choose Kodiak Char, with huge charred logs intertwined with split pieces, or Kodiak Split, with large split logs and deep textured bark, and add the Triple Stack option to stack a third tier at the back of a deep firebox. It produces a tall, yellow, wood-like fire sized for a generous hearth.

Installation Notes

Vented log sets burn with a yellow flame that produces soot and carbon monoxide, so Hargrove requires a fully vented, non-combustible fireplace designed and approved for wood, with the damper locked open and a chimney free of obstructions. Confirm the firebox is at least 66 inches wide and 21 inches deep (31 for Triple Stack) before ordering. Hargrove lists this burner system as non-certified. In New York City and many other jurisdictions, gas log installations must be performed by licensed trades and the local code official may require a listed burner, so we confirm approval before you buy and can advise on Hargrove's certified burner options. Frequently Asked Questions

Double Stack or Triple Stack?

Double Stack fits fireboxes at least 21 inches deep. Triple Stack adds a rear burner and an extra tier of logs for a taller fire and needs at least 31 inches of depth.

Can I run it on propane?

No. Hargrove offers Kodiak sets on propane only up to 36 inches, so this 60-inch set is natural gas only.

Can I close the damper while it burns?

No. This is a vented set. The damper must stay open, held by the supplied damper stop, and glass doors must be fully open during use.

Will it work in my New York City fireplace?

Only in a working, approved wood-burning fireplace with a sound chimney. Because this burner is non-certified, we check local approval before ordering and can recommend a certified Hargrove burner if one is required.

Warranty

Per Hargrove's installation guide: the refractory logs carry a limited lifetime warranty against manufactured defects or breakage when installed indoors (excluding breakage from excessive handling after firing); the burner and grate are covered for five (5) years against deterioration; valves, remote controls and switching devices are covered for two (2) years against manufacturing defects; and all other parts are covered for two (2) years. Outdoor applications carry a one (1) year limited warranty. Defects must be reported to Hargrove within thirty (30) days of discovery, and the warranty applies only to the original purchaser.
