The Hestan GMBR42 is a 42 in. natural gas or propane built-in grill with 3 Trellis burners plus a variable ceramic infrared sear burner at 25,000 BTU each, an 18,000 BTU ceramic infrared rotisserie burner and a concealed chain-driven rotisserie. It is Hestan's premium grill platform, aimed at cooks who want commercial-style heat control, a true rotisserie and the option of twelve signature color finishes.

Swapping one Trellis burner for a variable infrared sear burner adds steakhouse-level searing heat without giving up the rest of the grilling surface. Hestan rates the grill head at 118,000 BTU total.

Installation Notes

Build the island from non-combustible materials to the Hestan cutout, or use the insulated jacket in a combustible enclosure, and leave the ventilation openings shown on the spec sheet. Gas connections must be made by a qualified installer and leak tested; the rotisserie, lights and ignition need a 120V GFCI outlet. In New York City, natural gas piping requires a licensed master plumber and permit, and propane cylinders on terraces and rooftops are restricted by the FDNY. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between GABR and GMBR?

GABR uses all Trellis burners. GMBR replaces one Trellis burner with a 25,000 BTU variable ceramic infrared sear burner for high-heat searing.

Is the rotisserie included?

Yes. The infrared rotisserie burner, concealed chain-driven motor, spit and forks come with the grill.

Do I need the insulated jacket?

Only if the island is combustible (for example a wood frame). Then the AGIJ42 jacket is required and the cutout grows to 47 x 25-1/8 x 12-13/16 in.

Which finish should I choose?

All twelve Hestan finishes use the same grill and burners; color affects only the exterior panels and price.

Warranty

Hestan lifetime warranty, per the Hestan built-in grill specification: the welded body, DiamondCut grates and warming racks, Trellis burners, variable sear burners and rotisserie burner are covered for the lifetime of the original purchaser. Per the current listing, the spit rod, briquette trays, manifolds and gas valves are covered for five (5) years and all other components for one (1) year (colored grill bodies can be extended to two years with purchase of a grill cover).
