Description
Description
Overall Dimensions: 38-3/4 in W x 32-3/4 in H x 15-1/4 in D, per the Dimplex sell sheet
The Dimplex BF39DXP 39 in Deluxe Built-In Electric Firebox brings the classic Dimplex flame effect, molded inner-glow logs and a pulsing ember bed to a framed wall opening or an existing masonry fireplace. It wires directly to 120V, 208V or 240V, and on a 240V circuit its fan-forced heater puts out about 9,200 BTU of supplemental heat, or you can run the flames alone all year.
Features
- Dimplex flame effect with 3D depth from a mirrored rear glass, cast urethane inner-glow logs and a pulsing ember bed
- Fan-forced, louver-less heater: about 5,000 BTU at 120V, 7,200 BTU at 208V and 9,200 BTU at 240V
- Flame-only operation for year-round ambiance without heat
- Full brick-look interior and operable mesh spark screens for a traditional hearth look
- Direct-wire installation, with an optional 120V plug kit (BFPLUGE, 7 ft cord)
- Control by the built-in switches, an optional three-stage remote, a wall switch kit or a wall thermostat

What Is Included and What You Will Need
- BF39DXP built-in electric firebox with logs and ember bed
- Built-in controls
- Options on this page: BFGLASS39BLK tamper-proof glass door, BFDOOR39BLKSM bi-fold look glass door, BFSDOOR39BLK swing glass door, BF4TRIM39 3 in black trim kit and BFPLUGE 120V plug kit, where offered
- You will need: a framed opening or masonry fireplace sized to the rough-in dimensions, and a dedicated 15 A circuit wired by a licensed electrician (or the plug kit for 120V)
Optional Accessories
- Three-stage remote control (flame, flame and half heat, flame and full heat), sold separately
- Wall switch remote control kit or wall-mount thermostat, sold separately
Installation Notes
Wire a dedicated, properly fused 15 A circuit (14 gauge wire at 120V, 208V or 240V) as the Dimplex installation guide specifies; a dedicated circuit may not be required if the unit is wired for flame-only use. For an existing masonry fireplace, the firebox slides into the opening and the trim kit closes the gap.
Electric fireplaces need no chimney, vent or gas line, which makes them one of the few fireplace options most New York City co-op and condo boards approve. A hardwired installation is electrical work that must be performed by a licensed electrician in NYC.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can it go into my existing wood fireplace?
Yes, if the opening matches the rough-in dimensions. Dimplex designs the BF Series for framed walls or existing fireplace openings, and the optional trim kit finishes the edge.
Does it plug in?
It is designed for direct wiring. For a 120V outlet installation, add the BFPLUGE plug kit with its 7 ft cord.
How much heat does it make?
About 5,000 BTU on 120V and 9,200 BTU on 240V. Dimplex markets it as supplemental heat for up to 1,000 sq ft.
Is a remote included?
No. The three-stage remote, wall switch kit and thermostat are optional.
