The Bordeaux Rectangle is a 50-inch glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) fire bowl with a flared, tailored lip and a 24-inch ribbon of flame down the center. At 16-1/4 inches tall it sits at chat height beside lounge seating, a pool coping or a seat wall, and its long footprint suits a sofa-and-chairs layout better than a round bowl. Choose the manual version for a steady 60,000 BTU flame, or FyreStarter for push-button ignition, Bluetooth control and a 33,000 BTU low setting.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

  • Included: Bordeaux Rectangle fire bowl in your selected finish, 24" linear stainless burner and valve system, bag of lava granules for the required base layer
  • Natural gas: a dedicated gas line with shutoff sized for the model you choose (up to 65,000 BTU on FyreStarter), installed by a licensed plumber
  • Propane: the tank cannot go inside this unit; use a remote 20 lb cylinder in an enclosure such as the Reclaimed Wood Contempo Tank/End Table with the AFD 5110-26 10 ft extension hose
  • FyreStarter models: a 120V, 15 amp minimum, GFCI-protected weatherproof in-use outlet
  • Decorative media (recommended 50 lbs of glass or gems, or 30 lbs of lava): Fyre Glass, Reflective Fyre Glass, Fyre Gems or Diamond Nuggets
  • Optional: vinyl protective cover (8148A)

Installation Notes

Outdoor use only. Set the unit on a hard, level surface with 3 ft of clearance from its edge to any construction, and never under overhead construction less than 6 ft above the top. Do not run it in high wind. Size the gas line for the full load and run it before the patio is finished. Natural gas piping must be installed by a qualified installer; in New York City that means a licensed master plumber under permit, and roof or terrace locations may need building approval. Frequently Asked Questions

Manual Flame Sensing or FyreStarter?

Manual is simpler and needs no outlet, at a steady 60,000 BTU. FyreStarter adds push-button and phone control, a 65,000 BTU high and 33,000 BTU low, but needs a 120V GFCI outlet nearby.

How much media does it take?

American Fyre Designs recommends about 50 lbs of glass or gems, or 30 lbs of lava granules or coals, over the included lava base.

Is the rectangle a good fit for a long sofa layout?

Yes. The 50 x 30 inch footprint and 24 inch flame line spread the fire along a sectional or a pair of loveseats, where a round bowl leaves the ends cold.

Warranty

American Fyre Designs by R.H. Peterson Co. warrants the GFRC fire feature and burner for three years and all valves, electrical components, accessories and controls for one year (batteries, wind guards and screens excluded) from the date of purchase. Coverage is for the original purchaser with proof of purchase, excludes labor, and does not cover damage from burning wood or any fuel other than natural gas or propane, or damage or discoloration from use in high wind.
