AFD manuals call for the supplied base lava granules first; then pour the glass evenly so it sits 1 to 2 in above the burner, never higher, and keep all media off the pilot or igniter screen. Work only on a cool burner. Planning an outdoor fire feature? Book a design consultation.

How much do I need?
See the AFD amounts above for fire pits; firetable and fire bowl manuals give their own amounts. For small units or top-ups, 10 lb bags in the same colors are an option.
Can glass replace the lava base?
No. AFD units need their base lava granules; glass is a primary media that goes on top.

Peterson Co. warrants American Fyre Designs GFRC fire features, fireplaces, fire tables, fire pits, fire bowls, gas logs and burners for outdoor installation for three (3) years, and AFD electrical components, valves, accessories and controls (batteries, wind guards and screens excluded) for one (1) year, to the original purchaser with proof of purchase, per AFD manual H2-060. Labor is not covered.
