The American Fyre Designs 48-inch Fire Bowl is a round glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) gas fire bowl with a 16-inch stainless steel star burner, sized for a lounge circle of four to six chairs. On propane models with the storage drawer, the base holds a 20 lb cylinder out of sight, so a propane install stays clean. Choose Manual Flame Sensing for a steady 65,000 BTU flame, or FyreStarter for push-button and Bluetooth control with a 100,000 BTU high and 54,000 BTU low.

What Is Included and What You Will Need
- Included: 48-inch Fire Bowl in your selected finish, 16-inch stainless star burner and valve system, 10 lb bag of lava granules for the required base layer
- Natural gas: a dedicated gas line with shutoff, installed by a licensed plumber
- Propane: a 20 lb (5 gallon) cylinder with overfill prevention device, supplied separately
- FyreStarter models: a 120V, 15 amp minimum, GFCI-protected weatherproof in-use outlet
- Decorative media (AFD recommends 70 lbs of glass or gems, or 35 lbs of lava granules or coals): Fyre Glass, Reflective Fyre Glass, Fyre Gems or Diamond Nuggets
- Optional: vinyl protective cover (AFD lists no cover part number for this model, so confirm fit with us before ordering)
Installation Notes
Outdoor use only. Set the bowl on a hard, level surface with 3 ft of clearance from its edge to any construction, and never under overhead construction less than 6 ft above the top. Do not run it in high wind. Size the gas line for the full 100,000 BTU load before the patio is finished. Natural gas piping must be installed by a qualified installer; in New York City that means a licensed master plumber under permit, and roof or terrace locations may need building approval. Manual Flame Sensing or FyreStarter?
Manual is simpler and needs no outlet, at a steady 65,000 BTU. FyreStarter adds push-button and phone control, a 100,000 BTU high and 54,000 BTU low, but needs a 120V GFCI outlet nearby.
Can I hide a propane tank inside?
On propane models with the storage drawer, AFD allows a cylinder of 20 lb or less inside the base. Volcanic stones cannot be used with a tank stored inside, so plan on glass, gems or lava granules.
How much media does it take?
AFD recommends about 70 lbs of glass or gems, or 35 lbs of lava granules or coals, over the included lava base.
Is it freestanding?
Yes. It needs only a hard, level surface and the clearances listed above.

Warranty
American Fyre Designs warrants the GFRC fire feature and burners for three years and all valves, electrical components, accessories and controls for one year (batteries, wind guards and screens excluded) from the date of purchase. Coverage is for the original purchaser with proof of purchase and does not cover damage from burning wood or any fuel other than natural gas or propane, or damage or discoloration from high winds.
