Installation Notes
Seal drafts and vents in an existing masonry fireplace with non-fibrous insulation before sliding the firebox in, and do not install it in an opening prone to dampness. Leave air space beneath the unit and at least 1/2 in behind it, and plug it directly into a wall outlet; Dimplex says a dedicated circuit may be needed if the breaker trips when the heater runs.
In New York City, a plug-in electric fireplace needs no gas line, venting or permit, which is why it suits apartments; a hardwired connection or a new circuit should be done by a licensed electrician.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fit my fireplace opening?
The XHD26L needs an opening at least 24-3/8 in wide, 18-1/2 in high and 8 in deep, per the Dimplex manual.
Can I run the flames without heat?
Yes. The flame effect runs on its own, and the heater can be disabled from the touch panel.
Does it need a dedicated circuit?
It plugs into a standard 120 V, 15 A outlet. Dimplex prefers a dedicated circuit and requires one if the breaker trips with the heater on.
What is the difference between the G and L models?
G models have an acrylic ice ember bed; L models have a molded log set.
