The EcoSmart Fire Heritage 42SS is a zero clearance, built-in bioethanol firebox with a traditional look: decorative ceramic logs on an iron-style grate behind a flush glass fire screen, framed into wood or metal studs. It burns e-NRG bioethanol in a BK5 stainless burner, so it needs no flue, chimney, gas line or electrical connection. It suits a living room, den or covered outdoor room where a classic hearth is wanted without venting.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

- Required: e-NRG bioethanol fuel, a level framed opening that can carry the unit, burner and fuel, and non-combustible facing such as fiber cement board, FR plasterboard, stone, tile or steel
- Tools per EcoSmart: drill, screwdriver, level, trowel and caulk gun
Installation Notes
Build the framework to the opening above on a level base, keep the framing above self-supporting since the firebox is not load-bearing, and screw the unit to the frame through its flanges. Do not pack the air spaces with insulation, do not add doors and never run it without the glass screen. Seal the joint between the wall and the firebox with non-combustible material, and keep wallpaper, laminate and veneer away from the opening. Indoors, respect the minimum room size and do not install it in a bathroom or other small room; it is a decorative or supplemental heater, not a primary heat source. Bioethanol needs no flue, but fire codes and building rules still apply, so confirm that an ethanol appliance is acceptable in your New York City building, co-op or condo before ordering. Does the Heritage 42SS need a chimney or gas line?
No. It burns e-NRG bioethanol and needs no flue, chimney, gas line or electrical connection.
What size opening do I frame?
EcoSmart lists 46.0 in wide by 36.5 in high with at least 23.0 in of depth. Check the unit against the opening before finishing.
Can it go outdoors?
Yes, but only under a protective overhang or roof extension so rain cannot enter the firebox.
How long does a fill last?
The 5 L BK5 burner runs about 7 to 11 hours per fill.

Warranty
Per the EcoSmart operations manual, stainless steel parts carry a 2-year limited warranty from the date of purchase and mild steel, glass and other listed materials carry 1 year. Chips and scratches are not covered. If installed outdoors, the firebox must sit under a protective overhang; damage from an exposed location voids the warranty.
