The Majestic Ruby 35 (RUBY35IN natural gas, RUBY35IL propane) is the largest Ruby direct vent gas insert, rated up to 35,000 BTU/h on either fuel. It turns a larger existing wood-burning fireplace, at least 36-5/8 in. wide, 24-1/4 in. high and 15 in. deep, into a sealed gas fire with a 32-1/2 in. x 19-3/8 in. view. It vents up the old chimney with a co-linear 3 in. flex kit, and you pick the surround and front to finish it.

Installation Notes
The existing fireplace must be cleaned and inspected, the damper fixed open or removed, and the opening must meet the minimum dimensions in installation manual 2542-980. A qualified installer runs the co-linear liner up the chimney (10 to 50 ft vertical) and connects gas and an unswitched 110 to 120 VAC outlet. In New York City, gas work requires a licensed master plumber and permits, and converting a wood fireplace to a direct vent gas insert is a common NYC upgrade. Will the Ruby 35 fit my fireplace?
With the standard surround the opening needs at least 36-5/8 in. front width, 25-1/8 in. rear width, 24-1/4 in. front height and 15 in. depth. Send us your measurements and we will confirm.
Is propane as strong as natural gas?
Yes. Majestic rates both RUBY35IN and RUBY35IL at 24,500 to 35,000 BTU/h.
Do I need a surround and front?
Yes. Both are required; choose them in the options above.
How is it vented?
Through the existing chimney with a co-linear kit of two 3 in. flex pipes, 10 ft minimum and 50 ft maximum vertical.
