Each HeatFlo kit fits only the Superior fireplaces named on its page; frame to the HeatFlo dimensions in the fireplace manual.

The Superior HTFLO-LIN60 HeatFlo kit is built for the 60 in Superior DRL4000 and DRL6000 linear direct-vent fireplaces. Superior designed it to redirect the convective heat that would rise off the front of the fireplace, just above the glass, to an outlet higher on the wall. That is what makes a television above a linear fireplace practical, and the manual allows a recessed TV pocket above the fireplace when the kit is installed.

Installation Notes

Plan the HeatFlo kit before framing: the DRL manual gives separate framing dimensions for flush-wall and recessed-pocket TV installations with the kit, removes the fireboard nailing flange for a recessed pocket, and calls for thermal insulating wrap on any wiring run into the enclosure. Elevated temperatures above a fireplace can still damage a TV or decorations, so follow the clearances in the manual.

In New York City, direct-vent gas fireplaces need a licensed master plumber for the gas line and a permit, and the vent termination must meet NYC code for distance from windows, doors and lot lines.

Do I need it to mount a TV above the fireplace?

It is the Superior kit for that job. With it, the manual allows a recessed TV pocket above the fireplace; follow the framing dimensions exactly.

How deep can the TV pocket be?

The manual sets a maximum pocket depth of 3-1/2 in and a minimum of 18 in from the fireplace opening to the pocket.

Can I add it after the wall is finished?

Plan it at framing. The kit changes the framing dimensions and needs an outlet opening high on the wall.

Warranty

The Innovative Hearth Products (IHP) limited warranty printed in the Superior fireplace manual gives parts not otherwise listed a 90 day warranty from the date of installation and excludes trim components and paint from the 20 year coverage on the fireplace body, firebox and barrier.
