Description

The Superior STK-VFLIN48 is the vent-free indoor see-thru kit for the 48 in Superior VRL6048 linear vent-free fireplace (VRL6048ZEN and VRL6048ZEP). It converts the fireplace to a see-thru application so the fire shows in two rooms. The fireplace must be converted before it is set into the framing, so this kit belongs in the order at the design stage.

Features

  • Converts the VRL6048ZEN / ZEP to an indoor see-thru application (Cat. No. F4854)
  • Vent-free kit adds a bezel assembly and draft shield glass for the second face
  • Includes nailing flanges, tile stops, sight obstructor, controls access cover, fireboard assembly, header standoffs and barrier
  • Must be installed before the fireplace goes into the framing
  • Indoor only; Superior lists a separate indoor/outdoor kit

Convert the fireplace before it goes into the framing: the kit instructions remove the rear outer wrapper, inner heatshield and firebox rear panel, then add the see-thru components. Frame to the see-thru dimensions in the VRL6048 manual. A blower cannot be used with the indoor see-thru kit.

Vent-free gas appliances cannot be installed in New York City under the NYC Fuel Gas Code. We sell this model for installations outside the five boroughs where local code allows it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add it to an installed fireplace?

Superior requires converting the fireplace before it is installed into the framing, so plan it before construction.

Can one side face outdoors?

Can I still use a blower?

No. Superior states blower use is not compatible with the indoor see-thru kit.

Warranty

The Innovative Hearth Products (IHP) limited warranty printed in the Superior fireplace manual gives parts not otherwise listed a 90 day warranty from the date of installation and excludes trim components and paint from the 20 year coverage on the fireplace body, firebox and barrier. Coverage is for the original owner, on products bought through a listed IHP supplier and installed in the United States or Canada. See the fireplace manual for full terms.
