Description
Description
Overall Dimensions: 29 in. x 17 in. burner plate size for the CFBDT240 (Warming Trends burner size guide)
This Warming Trends kit pairs the CROSSFIRE CFBDT240 double tree-style brass burner, rated 240,000 BTU, with the flex line and valve parts to bring it into a rectangular fire pit. The double tree layout spreads flame across a 29 x 17 in. plate footprint, and the 100% brass burner will not rust.
Choose natural gas or propane and the ignition: match light with a 3/4 in. key valve, push button spark ignition, or Warming Trends' 24V electronic ignition, which can add a wireless remote or a 2 or 12 hour dial timer.

What Is Included and What You Will Need
- Included: CFBDT240 brass burner and the flex line, valve and ignition kit you select (SKU shown above)
- Not included: a burner plate or pan; plan for a 29 x 17 in. plate
- Required, sold separately: fire-rated media such as Warming Trends black lava rock (BLR) or rolled lava rock (LRR)
- Required: a non-combustible, vented enclosure and a gas line with an exterior shutoff, run by a licensed installer; electronic ignition also needs power installed by a licensed electrician
- Recommended: Warming Trends CRR2917 aluminum fire pit cover, since the warranty requires the burner to be covered when not in use
Installation Notes
Warming Trends requires a non-combustible enclosure with venting on at least two opposing sides, 18 sq in. minimum each, placed mid to low; the cavity must never be filled with gravel, crushed rock or concrete, and the burner should sit 4 to 6 in. below the top to protect the flame from wind. Support the plate or pan on blocks, bricks or L-brackets, never on the valve. Keep 36 in. horizontally and at least 84 in. overhead from combustible materials (Version 6 manual), fit a gas shutoff outside the fire feature, and have a licensed gas professional make the connection and leak test. Cover the burner with fire-rated media no more than 1/2 in. above the jets; never use gravel, pebbles or river rock. For electronic ignition, the control box must sit above grade with drainage, and the power supply must be installed by a licensed electrician. Certification: no CFBDT Double Tree size appears on the Warming Trends certified burner list in the Version 6 manual (6/26) or in ICC-ES listing PMG-1213 (effective March 2026), with match lit or electronic ignition. The certified CROSSFIRE tree-style burners are the single-row CFBT110 to CFBT470 sizes, listed match lit and with Warming Trends push button spark (PBIK), 3V battery (3VIK), 24V electronic (24VIK and P24VIK), Mercury and Platinum ignition systems. Because it is not a certified configuration, installation requires approval from your local code official (the authority having jurisdiction) before you buy and install it. For New York City addresses, outdoor gas fire features and their gas piping fall under the NYC Fuel Gas Code and Department of Buildings permitting, and propane at residences is restricted by the NYC Fire Code, so the approval path for a built-in fire pit must be confirmed before you buy. Book a design consultation and we will plan the enclosure, venting and gas run.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a burner plate included?
No. The kit is the burner with flex line, valve and ignition parts. Plan for a 29 x 17 in. plate, per the Warming Trends size guide.
Which ignition should I pick?
Match light needs no power. Push button adds a spark igniter at the valve. The 24V electronic system needs a power supply and can add a remote or dial timer.
What media can I use?
Fire-rated media made for fire features, such as lava rock or fire glass, placed on the plate rather than dumped over the burner and no more than 1/2 in. above the jets. Never use gravel, pebbles or river rock.
Can I install this in New York City?
Possibly, but outdoor gas fire features and their gas piping need NYC Fuel Gas Code and Department of Buildings approval, and propane at residences is restricted by the NYC Fire Code. Talk to us before you order.
