The American Made Grills Atlas ATSSB2 double side burner adds two burners beside an Atlas built-in grill, so sauces, sides and a pot of corn cook outdoors while the grill handles the main course. It slides into an open-front, non-combustible enclosure, and its 65,000 BTU total output and stainless lid make it a working range-top for the island.

Installation Notes

Install in a masonry or other fireproof surround; the burner is not insulated, so keep 16 to 18 in of clearance from the back and sides to unprotected combustibles or use an insulating liner. Leave the 1 in front air inlet below the control panel clear, keep the control panel removable for service, and never install under an unprotected overhead combustible surface. American Made Grills suggests setting the enclosure 6 to 12 in lower than the countertop when you plan to use tall pots such as a turkey fryer.

All gas connections should be made by a qualified technician to local code or the National Fuel Gas Code (ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54), with an installer-supplied shut-off valve in an accessible spot. In New York City, outdoor gas piping must be installed by a licensed master plumber under a permit, and FDNY limits propane cylinders on balconies, terraces and rooftops, so confirm what your building and location allow before you plan the installation.

Natural gas or propane?

Order ATSSB2-NG or ATSSB2-LP to match your supply; factory LP units use a regulator set for 10 in water column.

Can it go under a covered patio?

Only with a chimney and exhaust hood over the cooking area, per American Made Grills; fully enclosed patios are not allowed.

Is a cover available?

American Made Grills (AMD Direct) covers gas side burners with its Gold Standard Lifetime Warranty on construction, stainless steel, burners, valves and grates, and three (3) years on other parts and electrical components such as LED bulbs, wiring and switches, per the side burner manual. Coverage is for the original purchaser at the original site with online registration within 30 days, replacement parts only (no labor), and excludes commercial use.
