The Aquafire Gatsby is a freestanding water vapor fireplace: a lit mist flame in a decorative frame that plugs into a standard outlet and runs on tap water. There is no cutout, no venting and no installation trade, so it is an easy way to bring flame back to an unused masonry fireplace, a mantel niche or a display. Aquafire rates it for indoor use only.

Installation Notes
There is nothing to install: set the Gatsby on a level surface or inside an existing fireplace, plug it in and fill it. Because it makes no heat, smoke or combustion gases, it is a good fit for New York City apartments and co-ops where a wood or gas fireplace cannot be used. Water quality matters: Aquafire advises descaling every three months, or more often with hard water, warns that reverse osmosis water greatly reduces the flame effect, and notes that very hard water shortens the mist maker's life and can void the warranty. Does the Gatsby give off heat?
No. It is a decorative water vapor flame with no heater, so it can run year round.
Can it be plumbed to a water line?
No. Aquafire offers the Gatsby as manual fill only.
How long does a tank last?
Aquafire's specifications say up to 18 hours from the 1.6 L tank, though its product page badge says up to 10 hours; actual time depends on flame settings.
Can I put it in my old fireplace?
Yes. That is what Aquafire designed it for, as long as the opening fits its 22-1/2 x 11-5/8 in footprint plus height for the finials and an outlet is within reach.
