Description
Description
What Comes with the Empire Breckenridge Premium 36-Inch Firebox?
This product is an EMPTY indoor vent-free fireplace firebox. It is NOT a complete operating gas fireplace. The selected option includes the 36-inch Breckenridge Premium flush-front circulating firebox and only the interior liner specifically selected in the variant menu. The matte-black base option contains the standard black firebox interior; decorative brick/stone/porcelain liners cost extra. The Deluxe refractory-brick configuration is a different factory model.
What you must buy separately
- A compatible, certified vent-free gas burner and matching log set in the approved fuel type and size; neither is included with this empty firebox.
- Gas piping and qualified installation; vent-free means no flue, not that installation approval is automatic.
- If installing decorative door sets, the corresponding listed frame/barrier; install any hood required for thick stone or brick surrounds.
Framing and compatibility
2026 manufacturer framing reference: 40 3/8 W × 38 7/8 H × 20 9/16 D (inches). Verify the latest appliance installation guide before construction. Optional blower, doors, cabinet mantel, accent lighting and decorative accessories are sold separately unless explicitly selected in a priced configuration.
Important NYC restriction: New York City prohibits installation of unvented gas log heaters and vent-free gas fireplaces. Elsewhere, confirm approval with your local authority and follow all state/local installation requirements. This firebox must not be represented or installed as a vented or direct-vent fireplace.
The Breckenridge Premium Vent Free Firebox | Flush Front from Empire
The Empire Breckenridge Premium Vent Free Firebox | Flush Front comes in 3 sizes: 32", 36" and 42".

Complete the Premium Firebox with one of four ceramic fiber liners, decorative accessories in three styles and two finishes, a blower – and even a lighting kit for use with a switch or dimmer control. Surround the installation with a traditional cabinet or corner mantel.
