Installation Notes

Hargrove's Kodiak sets need a fully vented fireplace with the damper completely open and the chimney clear, since the combustion products must exit up the chimney; if fumes or soot appear in the room with the damper open, the draft is defective and the set must not be used. Install to local codes, or the National Fuel Gas Code, by personnel qualified to install gas appliances. In New York City, gas work must be done by a licensed master plumber under a DOB permit, so confirm the fuel with us before you order, and because Hargrove lists this burner as NON CERTIFIED, check approval with your building and inspector. Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a working chimney?

Yes. The fireplace must be vented, non-combustible, approved for wood and have a fully open damper and clear chimney with at least 50 sq in of free opening.

Can it run on propane?

Not as a match-light set. Hargrove requires an automatic pilot system for propane.

What is the difference between double and triple stack?

Double stack is the ember bed plus raised main burner. Triple stack adds a third burner and tier of logs at the back and needs a deeper fireplace.

Will it fit my firebox?

Warranty

Per Hargrove's limited warranty: refractory logs carry a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects or breakage when installed indoors; burner and grate five (5) years; valves, remote controls and switching devices two (2) years; all other parts two (2) years. Outdoor applications carry a one (1) year limited warranty. Breakage from handling after the logs have been fired is not covered, and defects must be reported to Hargrove within 30 days.
