The Majestic Cottagewood 42 (ODCTGWD-42-B) is a factory-built outdoor wood-burning fireplace from Hearth & Home Technologies' Outdoor Lifestyles line, with a 42 in. wide by 28-1/2 in. tall opening framed by refractory brick panels. It suits a covered patio, pool house wall or freestanding outdoor room where you want a real wood fire with a masonry look but a listed, predictable installation. Choose Traditional or Herringbone brick panels, and add the matching stainless bi-fold doors if you want to close the opening.

Installation Notes

This is a wood-burning appliance and needs a listed chimney, a properly built non-combustible hearth extension and the framing clearances in the Majestic installation manual (4108-902). Have a qualified hearth installer plan the chase, chimney height and outside air before construction. New York City does not permit new wood-burning fireplaces (Local Law 38 of 2015, effective May 6, 2016); we sell this model for installations outside the five boroughs where local code allows it. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I install the Cottagewood in New York City?

No. New wood-burning fireplaces are not permitted in the five boroughs. It can be installed in Long Island, Westchester, New Jersey and other areas where local code allows wood burning.

What chimney does it need?

Majestic specifies its SL1100 series chimney with a termination cap. Minimum straight height is 18 ft, or 10 ft inside a non-combustible enclosure with the extended smoke shield.

Is a hearth extension required?

Yes. A non-combustible hearth extension is required and sold separately. Its size and height must be decided before installation; see the installation manual.

Can I add gas logs later?

The manual allows a gas log set or gas log lighter through the gas knockouts. Plan the gas line at the time of installation.
