The Modern Flames Redstone 42 (RS-4229) is a built-in electric firebox for a new framed wall or an existing fireplace opening, with Modern Flames' Hybrid-FX flame, a log set and acrylic crystal ember bed. It plugs into a standard 120V outlet and heats with up to 1,465 watts, about 5,000 BTU.
It suits a traditional room where you want the look of a wood fireplace without venting or gas, with independently controlled flame color, up lighting and down lighting and a thermostat-controlled heater.

What Is Included and What You Will Need
- Included: RS-4229 firebox with log set, ember media, trim and remote, per the owner's manual and listing
- Required: a dedicated 110 to 120V, 15 A grounded outlet or hardwired circuit
- Required: a finished opening of 38-3/4 x 26-3/4 x 10 in. in a framed wall, or an existing fireplace opening
- Note: Modern Flames lists its optional trim kits for the Redstone 26, 30 and 36 only; no optional trim kit is available for the RS-4229
Installation Notes
Build the finished opening at 38-3/4 in. wide, 26-3/4 in. high and 10 in. deep, provide a dedicated 15 A (or higher) circuit, then slide the fireplace in, level it on its feet and secure it with the four screws, per the Redstone owner's manual. Do not plug other appliances into the same circuit. Electric fireplaces need no venting or gas, which makes them a practical choice for New York City apartments. Book a design consultation to plan the wall, power and finish.

Yes. Modern Flames rates the Redstone for a new framed wall or as an insert in an existing fireplace opening; it needs a 38-3/4 x 26-3/4 x 10 in. opening.
How much heat does it make?
Up to 1,465 watts, about 5,000 BTU, on a 120V circuit.
Does it need a dedicated circuit?
Yes. The manual calls for a dedicated 15 A or higher breaker.
Can I run the flame without heat?
Yes. Heater setting H0 turns the heater and blower off; the heater only runs when the flame is on.
