The Distinction 36 See-Through is a two-sided linear direct vent gas fireplace, with a 36 in. wide flame on Ice fireglass over black reflective glass and multicolor LED uplighting, visible from both rooms. It is made for a partition wall between a living room and a dining room, kitchen or primary suite. Distinction is a heater-rated series at 35,000 BTU/h, and Montigo offers its Cool Wall Advantage kit to route excess heat away from the wall above.

- Required: 5 in. / 8 in. direct vent pipe and a wall or roof termination, either Montigo vent or an approved alternate listed in the manual (DuraVent DirectVent Pro connects through adapter 58DVA-AD-M1). We carry 58DVA-HC horizontal and 58DVA-VCH vertical caps, 58DVA-36 pipe and 58DVA-E90 elbows
- Required: non-combustible framing to the published dimensions, a gas supply line and a 115V, 60 Hz circuit
- Required for propane: the propane option above (conversion kit GCA015), installed by a qualified technician
- Optional: Cool Wall Advantage kit (TV plenum or horizontal and vertical sidewall kits), adjustable trim kit, fluted liners, SIT-WiFi app control
Installation Notes
Non-combustible framing is required for all Distinction models, built around a 2-1/4 in. platform so the supplied cement board fits; framing for the see-through is 59-3/4 in. W x 49-15/16 in. H x 17-11/16 in. D with at least 89 in. from the base of the unit to the ceiling. Because Distinction is heater rated, the chase must be vented, and Montigo recommends its Cool Wall Advantage kit where a TV, art or stone facing goes above. Both faces of the wall are finished, so plan facing materials for each room. Installation must be done by a qualified, licensed gas installer. In New York City, direct vent fireplaces fall under the NYC Fuel Gas Code, with a licensed master plumber and DOB filing where required; the termination location usually decides feasibility in apartments and townhouses. We confirm venting and permitting during a fireplace design consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I hang a TV above a see-through Distinction?
Distinction is heater rated, so heat above the opening has to be managed. Montigo designed the Cool Wall Advantage kit to divert that heat through a plenum or sidewall louvers; we plan it with the framing so the TV wall stays cool.
Do both sides need their own venting?
No. It is one sealed firebox with one 5 in. / 8 in. direct vent run that terminates through an exterior wall or the roof.
Does the see-through have fans?
Montigo lists fans as standard on the single-sided Distinction models, but they are not among the standard features of the D3615ST. Heat leaves through both glass faces and, if installed, the Cool Wall Advantage kit.
Can it run on propane?
Yes. Choose the propane option above, which includes the conversion kit; high fire stays at 35,000 BTU/h.

Warranty
Montigo Residential Warranty Program (per the manual): firebox, heat exchanger and main burner 15 years, with 1 year of labor; gas controls, electrical components, remotes, media, glass, finishes and safety barriers 1 year, parts and labor. Transferable while the fireplace stays in its original installation; requires installation by a licensed professional and annual service by an authorized Montigo dealer. Montigo's terms also require the fireplace to be purchased and installed through an authorized Montigo dealer.
