The Montigo Phenom 38 is a compact modern direct vent gas fireplace with a concealed burner under quartz firebeads, a black porcelain liner and a clean 35-1/4 in. wide glass opening. It is a strong fit for apartments, bedrooms and smaller living rooms where you want a contemporary look without a deep chase. This Full-Load package makes the multi-function remote, remote Hi-Lo flame, fans, halogen uplighting and battery backup standard, and the zero clearance sides, rear and floor make it easy to frame tight.

- Required: a natural gas or propane supply line (choose the matching fuel option above) and a 115V, 60 Hz circuit

Installation Notes
Frame to the minimum opening (37-3/4 in. W x 34-1/4 in. H x 20-1/8 in. D). Sides, rear and floor can be zero clearance, but keep 9 in. above the unit to any enclosure ceiling with top venting (17-1/2 in. with rear venting), and follow the manual for mantels and noncombustible finishing above the opening. Venting can leave the top or rear and terminate through a wall or roof; the termination must be the highest point of the vent system. Installation must be done by a qualified, licensed gas installer. In New York City, direct vent fireplaces fall under the NYC Fuel Gas Code, with a licensed master plumber and DOB filing where required; the termination location usually decides feasibility in apartments and townhouses. We confirm venting and permitting during a fireplace design consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is media included?
Yes. The Phenom ships with quartz firebeads over the concealed burner and a black porcelain liner. Speckled stones, driftwood and colored glass are optional upgrades.
Will it work during a power outage?
Yes. The Full-Load package includes battery backup, so the ignition and remote keep working; the fans and lighting need household power.
How much heat does it put out?
The Phenom 38 is rated 25,000 BTU/h on natural gas or propane, with remote-controlled fans. That suits a bedroom, den or apartment living room; larger rooms usually call for the Phenom 42 or 52.
Can it go in an apartment?
Often, if a direct vent termination can reach an exterior wall or roof. The shallow 20-1/8 in. framing depth helps, but the vent route and building approvals decide it. We review that during a consultation.

Warranty
Montigo Residential Warranty Program (per the manual): firebox, heat exchanger and main burner 15 years, with 1 year of labor; Montigo venting (excluding termination) 15 years; gas controls, electrical components, remotes, media, glass, finishes and safety barriers 1 year, parts and labor. Requires installation by a licensed professional and annual service by an authorized Montigo dealer. Montigo's terms also require the fireplace to be purchased and installed through an authorized Montigo dealer.
