The Montigo Phenom 38 See-Thru (L38FSD) is a modern direct vent gas fireplace with glass on both sides and a concealed ribbon burner over Ice fireglass. It is built for the wall between two rooms, such as a living room and a den, a bedroom and bath, or an indoor-to-covered-porch divider, where one fire is seen from both sides. Choose a millivolt standing pilot that runs without electricity, or SIT Proflame 2 electronic ignition for remote control.

- Required: 5 in. / 8 in. direct vent pipe and a wall or roof termination, either Montigo vent or an approved alternate listed in the manual. We carry 58DVA-HC horizontal and 58DVA-VCH vertical caps, 58DVA-36 pipe and 58DVA-E90 elbows
- Required: a gas supply line in the fuel you select, and a 120 VAC circuit for electronic ignition models
- Optional: fan kit, battery backup, standing pilot or Proflame remotes, surrounds, speckled stones and driftwood log set
Installation Notes
Frame to 41 in. W x 40 in. H x 23-3/4 in. D and leave access to the gas line. Keep 1 in. at the sides, zero at the floor and 17-1/2 in. above the unit to a ceiling with top venting (10 in. with side venting), and follow the manual for finishing and mantels on both faces. Because both sides are glass, plan the finish on each room and its surface temperatures. Installation must be done by a qualified, licensed gas installer. In New York City, direct vent fireplaces fall under the NYC Fuel Gas Code, with a licensed master plumber and DOB filing where required, and the termination location usually decides feasibility. We confirm venting and permitting during a fireplace design consultation.

Can I see the fire from both sides?
Yes. The L38FSD has glass front and rear, each with a 35-1/4 in. x 19-3/8 in. viewing area, so it works as a room divider or pass-through fireplace.
Standing pilot or electronic ignition?
Standing pilot is millivolt and needs no household power for the flame. Electronic IPI uses Proflame 2, needs a 120 VAC circuit and supports remotes and modulation.
Does it come with a fan?
No. A fan kit is an optional accessory. Check the options before ordering if you want circulated heat.
Can it be vented through a side wall?
Yes, within the limits in the manual; the unit ships set for top venting and the termination must be the highest point of the vent system. We review the route in a consultation.

Montigo Residential Warranty Program: firebox, heat exchanger and main burner are covered for 15 years with 1 year of labor; Montigo venting (excluding termination) 15 years; terminations 10 years; gas controls, electrical components, media, glass, finishes and safety barriers 1 year. Coverage requires installation by a licensed professional with approved components. Montigo's warranty terms require the fireplace to be purchased, installed and serviced annually by an authorized Montigo dealer for coverage to remain valid.
