Napoleon High Country 5000 Wood Burning Fireplace

Overall Dimensions: Minimum framing 42.44 in. W x 73.63 in. H x 28.81 in. D (per current listing and napoleon.com)

The Napoleon High Country 5000 (NZ5000) is a clean-face, European-style wood-burning fireplace for homeowners who want a real wood fire with a modern, uncluttered look. Its signature is the counterbalanced ZERO GRAVITY door and screen, which glide up into the wall so loading wood takes one hand and no visible doors or handles interrupt the view. When the fire is out, the flue and outside air dampers close fully to limit heat loss.

NYC note: New wood-burning fireplaces cannot be installed in New York City under Local Law 38 of 2015 (effective May 6, 2016). We sell the High Country 5000 for installations outside the five boroughs, such as Long Island, Westchester, New Jersey and Florida, where local code allows it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I install the High Country 5000 in New York City?

No. Local Law 38 of 2015 prohibits new wood-burning fireplaces in the five boroughs. We sell this model for homes outside the city. In NYC, a direct vent gas fireplace is the usual alternative.

How does the ZERO GRAVITY door work?

The glass door and screen are counterbalanced and slide up into the wall on rollers, either together or separately, so you can load wood or watch an open fire behind the screen without handling a heavy door.

What chimney does it use?

Napoleon allows a 10 in. diameter chimney for the High Country series. The approved chimney brands, minimum and maximum heights and offsets are listed in the installation manual; your installer should confirm them before framing.

Are the stone panels required?

The decorative Smooth Stone and Traditional Stone panels are optional finishes. You can order the fireplace without them.
