Frequently Asked Questions
Does the THIRTY8 need a chimney?
No. It is a direct vent unit that draws combustion air and exhausts through sealed 4 in x 6 5/8 in pipe, routed through a wall or the roof as the manual allows.
Is a hearth required?
If the fireplace sits directly on a combustible floor, a non-combustible hearth at least 12 in deep and as wide as the 42.75 in front fascia is required. If it is installed at least 4 in above a combustible floor, no hearth is required.
Can it run on natural gas or propane?
Either, but each unit is built for one fuel. Field conversion is only permitted with a conversion kit supplied by Solas.
Which finishes can I choose?
Five firebox panel kits (Slate Stone, Porcelain Enamel High Gloss, Satin Black Steel, Red Brick, White Brick), two burner styles, and Satin Black or stainless steel trim.
