The Summerset SB1 is a built-in single side burner that adds a 15,000 BTU burner beside the grill for sauces, sides and a pot of corn without walking back to the kitchen. A round brass and aluminum burner gives steady, adjustable heat under a lift-out stainless grate, and a stainless lid closes over the burner between cooks. Order it as SB1 for natural gas or SB1L for propane.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

- You will need: a gas supply line and shut-off for the selected fuel, a regulator for propane, and a Summerset side burner liner if the island is combustible

Installation Notes
Cut the countertop to 8 in. W x 15 1/2 in. D with 2 1/2 in. of clear depth below. Summerset requires at least 4 in. of clearance at the sides and rear from a non-combustible wall, and 14 in. from a protected combustible wall; in a combustible island a Summerset side burner insulating liner must be used. A propane island needs at least four vent openings of 10 sq in. each (40 sq in. total) per the manual, and the burner must not sit under a combustible overhead without an exhaust hood. Have a licensed gas fitter make the connection and leak test it; in New York City the gas work must be done by a licensed plumber and may need DOB filings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I convert it between natural gas and propane?
Buy the version for your fuel: SB1 for natural gas or SB1L for propane. The orifice differs (1.6 mm NG, 1.22 mm LP per the manual).
Does it need electricity?
The 2025 manual describes electronic spark ignition; it does not list a 120V hookup for the SB1. Ask us before you plan the island if you are unsure.
Do I need a liner?
Yes if the island is framed or finished with combustible material. A non-combustible island needs only the clearances in the manual.
