The Summerset SB2L is a built-in propane double side burner with two 12,000 BTU burners, 24,000 BTU in total, each on its own control. It lets you simmer a sauce on one burner and boil or saute on the other while the grill handles the main course. A stainless lid covers the burners between cooks. The SB2 (natural gas) is the matching version for the other fuel.

Installation Notes

Cut the countertop to 10 3/4 in. W x 20 3/4 in. D with 8 in. of clear depth below. Summerset requires at least 4 in. of clearance at the sides and rear from a non-combustible wall, and 14 in. from a protected combustible wall; in a combustible island a Summerset side burner insulating liner must be used. A propane island needs at least four vent openings of 10 sq in. each (40 sq in. total) per the manual, and the burner must not sit under a combustible overhead without an exhaust hood. Have a licensed gas fitter make the connection and leak test it; in New York City the gas work must be done by a licensed plumber and may need DOB filings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Natural gas or propane?

This listing is the propane SB2L. Order the SB2 (natural gas) for the other fuel; the orifices differ (1.6 mm NG, 1.05 mm LP per the manual).

How does it compare to the SB2PRO?

Both have two 12,000 BTU burners and the same cutout. The SB2PRO adds LED lighting and back-lit knobs with a transformer.

Do I need a liner?

Yes if the island is framed or finished with combustible material.
